Sources of Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR)

NOTE: Please be sure to read all of this page, as some very pertinent content is shared.

The growth of the wireless industry has been exponential over the past 30 years. The highly dangerous biological effects of electromagnetic radiation have been documented by thousands of studies since 1932. We may be facing a health crisis that makes cigarettes pale, in comparison.

Electromagnetic radiation (EMR), electric radiation, and magnetic radiation, including "dirty electricity" come from a variety of sources, some of which might surprise you:

    • Your utility meters, (electric, gas, and/or water meters) outside and inside your home.
    • Dirty electricity from your electrical wiring that originates from your digital utility meters
    • Cell phones
    • Cordless phones
    • Wireless router/modem
    • Smart TV (or regular TV)
    • Wireless gaming consoles
    • Hair blow dryers
    • Smart appliances and regular appliances (stove, microwave oven, clothes washer and dryer)
    • Other electronic devices (stereo systems, air filters, wireless burglar alarm components
    • Even your car

Blue Light

Blue light comes from artificial indoor lighting, especially LED and fluorescent light bulbs, cell phone screens, computer monitors. These have a substantial impact - not only on our eyes, but on our whole biology, and hence, health. This is because of our built-in biology clocks.

A Harvard Study Found:

...Blue light can affect your sleep and potentially cause disease. ...At night, light throws the body's biological clock—the circadian rhythm—out of whack. Sleep suffers. Worse, research shows that it may contribute to the causation of cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

But we do know that exposure to light suppresses the secretion of melatonin, a hormone that influences circadian rhythms, and ...lower melatonin levels might explain the association with cancer. A Harvard study shed a little bit of light on the possible connection to diabetes and possibly obesity. The researchers put 10 people on a schedule that gradually shifted the timing of their circadian rhythms. Their blood sugar levels increased, throwing them into a prediabetic state, and levels of leptin, a hormone that leaves people feeling full after a meal, went down.

Effects of blue light and sleep While light of any kind can suppress the secretion of melatonin, blue light at night does so more powerfully. Harvard researchers and their colleagues conducted an experiment comparing the effects of 6.5 hours of exposure to blue light to exposure to green light of comparable brightness. The blue light suppressed melatonin for about twice as long as the green light and shifted circadian rhythms by twice as much (3 hours vs. 1.5 hours).

At the end of the article, it offers a few suggestions, including:

  • Protect yourself from blue light at night Use dim red lights for night lights. Red light has the least power to shift circadian rhythm and suppress melatonin.
  • Avoid looking at bright screens beginning two to three hours before bed.
  • If you work a night shift or use a lot of electronic devices at night, consider wearing blue-blocking glasses or installing an app that filters the blue/green wavelength at night.

Blue Light Exposed

Most of us spend the majority of our waking hours staring at a digital screen. Studies suggest that 60% of people spend more than 6 hours a day in front of a digital device.

...Studies suggest that, over time, exposure to the blue end of the light spectrum could cause serious long-term damage to your eyes.

...Prolonged exposure to blue light may cause retinal damage and contribute to age-related macular degeneration, which can lead to loss of vision.

...The evolution in digital screen technology has advanced dramatically over the years, and many of today's electronic devices use LED back-light technology to help enhance screen brightness and clarity. These LEDs emit very strong blue light waves. Cell phones, computers, tablets and flat-screen televisions are just among a few of the devices that use this technology. Because of their wide-spread use and increasing popularity, we are gradually being exposed to more and more sources of blue light and for longer periods of time.

...Harvard researchers have linked working the night shift and exposure to blue light at night to several types of cancer (breast, prostate) diabetes, heart disease, obesity and an increased risk for depression.

...According to a study by the Kaiser family Foundation, children and teenagers (ages 8-18) spend more than 7 hours a day consuming electronic media. Before age 10, children's eyes are not fully developed. The crystalline lens and cornea are still largely transparent and overexposed to light, so too much exposure to blue light is not a good thing. Parents should supervise and limit the amount of screen time their children are permitted.

...A Harvard medical study states that "High Energy Visible (HEV) blue light has been identified for years as the most dangerous light for the retina. After chronic exposure, one can expect to see long range growth in the number of macular degenerations, glaucomas, and retinal degenerative diseases". And a paper published by the American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF) reports that "the blue rays of the spectrum seem to accelerate age-related macular degeneration (AMD) more than any other rays in the spectrum".

Dr. Jack Kruse on Blue Light

Blue light speeds up the destruction of the mitochondrial DNA. nnEMF (non-native electromagnetic frequencies) impact all life. The new top killers in the USA are Alzheimer's and Diabetes, and they're both linked to nnEMF and Blue light. He also feels that blue light is a major contributor to obesity, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's, ALS, Hashimoto's, and other autoimmune diseases. These are connected to blue light because blue light has a major impact on our mitochondria - the powerhouse in every cell of our bodies.

Dr. Kruse stated, "Just having blue light makes you hypoxic. Why? When you're in a blue light environment, your mitochondria swell. When your mitochondria swell, every one angstrom that it increases reduces quantum culling of electrons by a factor of 10. The eyes are the ultimate clock; they are the circadian clock that controls how our body handles electrons and protons for our mitochondria."

The more blue light we get, the more chance our eyes will turn myopic; the more chance we'll have problems seeing details. He states, "That's why it's one of the first signs in MS cases. Everyone who has MS is blue-light toxic, by definition. Both impacts: the non-native EMF (nnEMF) and blue light impact and cause Multiple Sclerosis."

DHA enables us to turn light into a DC current, and the DC current is what enables us to regenerate cells. Blue light destroys DHA.

Dr. Kruse said, ""The single most important thing in my view, to getting well, is protecting your eye clock. And the reason why is your eye clock has some very fancy physics in it that use specific light frequencies to regenerate at different times. What people don't understand is that your eye is where dopamine, melatonin, serotonin, and melanin are all generated."

Switch Mode Power Supplies

All digital meters, which measure electric, gas, and/or water usage, use a switch mode power supply (SMPS, also known as Switching Mode Power Supplies). These cause "dirty electricity", sending spiky energy throughout our entire home. They are proven to harm our health and compromise our electronic devices.

So this is yet another source of very dangerous EMR (Electro-Magnetic Radiation) that definitely impacts all of our health. Some electric utilities, for instance, allow people to "opt out" of smart meters, but the digital version of the meter they leave on your house still has a SMPS. The only meters that don't have an SMPS are the older analog meters.

However, analog meters are still sometimes retrofitted with a transmitter, so one cannot assume that an analog meter does not transmit! Getting a home assessment will verify whether there is a transmitter in any utility meters and how strong the electromagnetic radiation from them are.

To summarize, there are two different issues with digital meters:

    1. The EMR from them transmitting non-ionizing microwave radiation AND
    2. The dirty electricity from the SMPS
These two technologies associated with digital meters have a wide array of health impacts as detailed on the main and the Quotes pages of this site.

DOCTORS AND RESEARCHERS RING ALARM BELLS
There are hundreds of doctors and researchers around the globe that state unambiguously that there is substantial harm caused by transmitting technologies. They are calling for moratoriums and further research before such technologies continue to be rolled out. One video shows a member of the United Nations reading an appeal to the Secretary General of the UN. It might be possible to use some of this content to prove the harm caused in court cases and/or compel electric, gas, and water utility companies to remove digital meters.

SOURCES OF EMR
The proliferation of non-native EMF has grown exponentially over the past three decades. Some sources may really surprise you.

HEALTH IMPACTS
Sleep issues, brain-fog and frustration are the least of our worries. EMR has been proven to make all autoimmune conditions worse. Blue light from computer and cell phone screens, video gaming console screens, and artificial indoor lighting also has major impacts on our health. See the main page of this site for a partial list of conditions, then see the Quotes page to see specifics on what doctors and researchers are saying.

CHILDREN IMPACTED WORSE
Infants and children are impacted twice as much as adults by EMR because of their undeveloped immune systems, because they are growing up in the digital age and being given transmitting devices from a much younger age, and because their skulls are softer and undeveloped.

HEALTHY OPTIONS
There are specific supplements and foods that can do a lot to help mitigate the impact of radiating technologies. Even specific fish and wine can make a substantial difference.

EXPOSURE GUIDELINES
Exposure guidelines have not been updated in decades. They were developed based on thermal effects rather than the impact that radiation has been proven to have on DNA, on our mitochondria. These guidelines in no way account for the exponential growth of wireless technologies and the associated increase in electromagnetic radiation.

OPTIONS TO DEAL WITH UTILITY COMPANIES
There are a number of options to deal with the digital meters put on our homes by utility companies. These strategies range from using aluminum foil to block the transmissions, to building a closet or box around meters, to legal proceedings.
